Garden City beats Cloud; improves to 2-0 in conference play

Fiona Arnold and Jelena Milovanovic each recorded 10 kills, Tola Maczka had 21 assists, and Garden City pummeled Cloud County in three sets 25-16, 25-22, and 25-18. The Broncbusters improved to 13-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
After a slow start that saw Patrick Hiltz's team down 4-1 in the first, the Broncbusters rallied back, scoring four straight points to take the lead. After Cloud County took another four-point edge later in the set, Hannah Brandt recorded a kill, Apolline Lepuissant lasered home an attack, and Jelena Milovanovic powered home a kill to knot things up at 14. Eventually, Garden City closed the set on an 11-1 run.
The road team kept coming in the second, and trailing 22-21, Ozge Yavuz blocked a Cloud County attack, Emmah Sultz set up Hannah Brandt for a kill; Kate Perryman slammed one down the middle, and the Broncbusters scored the final four points to take a 2-0 advantage.
In the third, Garden City broke open a 9-9 score with six straight points capped off with Arnold's spike that landed just inside the right sideline. Yavuz followed with a kill, Lepuisssant added another, and Milovanovic rejected a Cloud County attack. Maczka recorded back-to-back assists, setting up Milovanovic and Arnold for a 24-17 lead. Perryman then finished off the Thunderbirds with her sixth kill of the night.
Lepuissant paced the Broncbusters with 12 digs, Maczka added 10, and Sultz had 10 assists.
