Octave shows out at Nationals; takes fifth in 60-meter hurdles

Lynchburg, VA-Mone' Octave has been building herself up for this moment.
And she earned it.
The freshman made it to the stage, finishing fifth in the nation in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 8.73 seconds at the 2020 NJCAA Indoor Nationals at Liberty University. She also earned All-America honors.
Octave's weekend began on Friday, taking fifth in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries—coming in with a personal-best 8.68 seconds. She also took 26th in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 7.77 seconds.
Deerfield-native Sheridan Rodriguez finished off a stellar indoor career by taking 12th in the high jump finals (1.56 meters). She was ninth in the pentathlon.
The 4x400 team of Octave, Lillie Burnett, Shienne Pierre and Meosha Erving, took 16th in the finals, finishing off the season with a time of 4:07.11. Meantime Burnett finished 33rd in the 60-meter dash prelims (7.84 seconds) and was 17th in the 400-meter dash prelims (59.16 seconds).
