Women qualify two at Frank Sevigne Invite

Lincoln, Neb-The Broncbuster women qualified two for nationals at the Frank Sevigne Husker Classic over the weekend.
The women's 4x400 team of Destiny Huyler, Shienne Pierre, Lillie Burnett and Mone Octave, punched their ticket with a time of 4:03.243—good for 18th place. The team dropped seven seconds off of their previous-best mark. They're currently rank 11th in the NJCAA and fourth in the Jayhawk Conference.
Meantime, sophomore Sheridan Rodriguez qualified for nationals for the second straight season in the pentathlon, which consists of the shot put, long jump, high jump, 800 meters and 60-meter hurdles. She finished 7th behind six Division-I schools. She's ranked 11th in the country and second in the conference.
Sophomore, Lillie Burnett hit a personal best in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 25.67 seconds, just a half-second off the national-qualifying mark. She placed 36th in that event and 36th in the 400-meter dash (1:00.13).
Freshman, Mone' Octave hit another personal-best in the 60-meter hurdles, taking 23rd with a time of 9.17 seconds. She was just .02 seconds shy of qualifying. Her teammate, Shienne Pierre, also notched a career-best in the 400 meters, dropping one second off of her previous personal best.
Garden City is back in action on Friday at the Gorilla Classic at Pittsburg State before the Region VI Indoor meet the following week.
