La Junta, CO-The Broncbusters were on the wrong end of this one.
Yaritza Puente and Thalia Amaro each homered, the Rattlers plated eight runs in the fifth, and Otero topped Garden City, 12-1 on Monday afternoon. It was the Broncbusters third straight loss, dropping them to 16-24 overall.
Garden City starter, Alexis Garcia struggled from the onset, allowing 10 runs on eight hits in 4 2/3. She gave up two in the third, two in the fourth and six more in the decisive fifth inning.
Savanna Griebling gave Garden City a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the third. But the Rattlers grabbed the edge for good with two in the home half including a bases-loaded walk issued to Chevelle Velasquez. An inning later, Amaro belted a two-run homer before the Rattlers put the game away with eight in the fifth. Amaro was hit by a pitch with the sacks full before Puente's grand slam induced the run rule.
The Broncbusters were limited to just five hits, two of those came in the first.
Meantime Otero starter Anali Ruiz retired the final six hitters she faced. She struck out four in a complete-game victory.
