By Mike Pilosof
Garden City, KS-Kaylee Rogers has already shown her versatility early in the season. And on Wednesday, the rest of the conference took notice.
The sophomore was named the Jayhawk Conference player of the week.
Rogers was a one-woman wrecking crew in Garden City's 10-2 win over Lamar on Feb. 29. She went 3-for-3 at the plate with a homer, an RBI and two runs scored. It was her fifth multi-hit game of the season. She also added two doubles, finishing the day with three extra-base hits. She did all of that while tossing a five-inning, seven-hit gem to improve to 4-0 in the circle.
For the season, Rogers is hitting .571 with one home run and 10 RBI. She's leading the team in average and is fifth in RBI. In the field, she's posted an 3.50 ERA with 24 strikeouts.
Garden City is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Dodge City.
