Martinez inks with Bethany
Garden City, KS-Josh Martinez, a 5-10 central defender from Liberal, KS, has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer at Bethany College.
"Coach Taylor and I have been talking about Josh and his soccer abilities for some time now," Garden City Head Coach Scott Westbrook said. "The Swedes are needing a strong central defender, someone who can shutdown the opponent's best forward. That's exactly what Josh does."
Bethany Coach Shane Taylor echoed Westbrook's sentiments.
"Josh is an excellent addition to our team," he said. "He can definitely make an impact on our back line. We are excited to add a talented player like Josh to the program, and I look forward to working with him these next two years."
Martinez likes the direction the Bethany program is headed.
"I'm looking forward to being a Swede and playing at a higher level," he said.
Martinez is the third Broncbuster to sign with a four-year school this offseason joining Marcus Fernandez (McPherson College) and Remi Emeriau (Midwestern State).
