Bio

Brock Baker began coaching for Garden City Community College in 2012.  He has coached several College National Final Rodeo qualifiers, including Brandi Hollenbeck in the Breakaway Roping, and Tucker McClain and Gunnar Stapleton who ended up 14th in the nation in 2018. 

Coach Baker grew up in Garden City, where he started rodeoing at the age of 10. He began his college career at Garden City Community College in 1996 under long-time coach Norman Staats. He finished at Kansas State University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a Business Option. He competed in both the team roping and steer wrestling for both the Broncbusters and the Wildcats and was a president of both rodeo clubs while attending school. While at GCCC, he was also a member of the Meat Judging team. 

After college he went to work in the agricultural field, working in the cattle industry and also working at the family business, Baker Boot Company.  

Coach Baker’s family includes his wife Jennifer, two sons Trell and Cort and a daughter Lainee.
