Garden City, KS-So far, the Garden City men's golf team is proving that last year was no fluke.
The Broncbusters climbed three spots to No. 15 in the latest poll released by the NJCAA on Tuesday.
Garden City is the second highest ranked Jayhawk school behind Hutchinson, who rang in at No. 5. Midland is No. 1 followed by Central Alabama, Ranger and Indian Hills.
So far, the Broncbusters have looked sharp. They won the team title at the Central Christian Open to begin the season, with Vincent Wilhelm taking home first place. Then they held their own against a loaded field at the High County Shootout, finishing sixth as a team.
"We've played some pretty good golf so far," Head Coach Phil Terpstra said. "Vincent is our only returner, and he's been solid. Adam Samnegard has been really good."
Samnegard shot a 7-under par during the opening round of the High County Shootout. He was 11-under for the tournament.
Now, another big test awaits Garden City next week when they head to Odessa for the National Preview.
"There will only be 12 teams there, but everyone is ranked," Terpstra said. "It's a really good test for us."
