Garden City lands in first NJCAA poll
By Mike Pilosof
Garden City, KS-It's been a pretty good run for the Broncbuster golf team the past few months.
In May, Phil Terpstra's team qualified for Nationals, finishing 16th. Then came Tuesday afternoon, where sophomore Vincent Wilhelm lapped the field en route to the Central Christian title. His team followed suit.
That brings us to Thursday, when the Broncbusters landed in the first poll released by the NJCAA, coming in 18th. They are one of three Jayhawk schools ranked in the top 20 with Hutchinson coming in at No. 4, while Dodge City is ranked 14th.
Garden City returns only one golfer off last year's squad. But they brought in a talented recruiting class that includes Canadian Isaac MacNaughton, freshman Guilherme Oliva from Portugal, Oliwer Persson Toiminen and Adam Samnegard from Sweeden, and Garrett Sanchez from Colorado Springs.
Garden City returns to action this weekend in New Mexico at the High County Shootout.
