Broncbusters have strong showing in Midland
Midland, TX-The Garden City golf team opened the spring season with a seventh-place finish at the TankLogix Invite at Green Tree Golf Course.
Shattuck, OK-native Jake Bay paced the Broncbusters, shooting a 70 in both the first and second rounds for a total of 2-under par. He took home 11th place.
"We are pretty satisfied with a seventh-place finish in our first tournament, considering the team has only played five practice rounds this spring due to weather," Head Coach Phil Terpstra said.
Vincent Wilhelm was tied for 24th, firing a 3-under, 68 in round one followed by a 75 in the second round. He was 1-over for the tournament. His teammate George Avgousti was 29th, bouncing back with a strong 1-under par 70 in the second round for a total of 2-over. Shaydon Johnson was 43rd at 5-over, Evan McBridge was 61st and Samuel Moron was 71st.
Midland won the tournament with a team score of 26-under par, followed by Odessa, Indian Hills, Ranger and New Mexico. The top four teams and seven out of the top 11 that participated were ranked in the NJCAA poll.
