Garden City, KS-Russhard Cruickshank was part of history.
During his freshman campaign, he and his teammates made more 3's in a single season than any other Broncbuster team before them. His sophomore year, he averaged 13 points and shot 91 percent from the free throw line. And on Thursday, the Wisconsin-native signed a national letter of intent to play at Eastern Kentucky University.
"It felt right when I went on my visit," Cruickshank said. "It was definitely a family atmosphere."
Cruickshank enjoyed a solid sophomore season for Garden City, scoring in double figures 23 times including a season-high 25 points vs. Dodge City on Feb. 16. He nailed five 3's vs. Cloud, Pratt and Dodge, and shot a season-best 10-of-16 in a 96-74 rout of the Conquistadors. Those numbers earned him a spot on the All-Jayhawk team.
Eastern Kentucky is an NCAA Division-I school that plays in the Ohio Valley Conference. They're coming off a 13-18 season. They are led by Head Coach A.W. Hamilton, who will be entering his second season at the helm.
