McCook, NEB-It was a home run party on Tuesday.
Jake Wiley, Will Gardner, and Connor Camden all went yard, Dylan Garcia collected three hits, and Garden City stormed back from five runs down to beat McCook, 13-8. The Broncbusters have now alternated wins in their last seven games, improving to 10-18-1 overall.
A Daniel Bannon leadoff homer in the bottom of the first, which fueled a three-run frame coupled with a wild pitch and an RBI groundout from Bannon and a run-scoring single off the bat of Zach Beatty in the second helped the Indians build a 5-0 cushion.
Garden City though finally cracked the scoreboard in the fourth thanks to a two-out, hot-shot single by Sage McMinn. An inning later, Camden ripped a two-out homer, Gardner followed suit with a two-run blast, and the Broncbusters were within one, 5-4.
After McCook stretched the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth, Garden City exploded for eight in the seventh. Ryan Muniz singled home two; Camden scored on a wild pitch, Garcia laced an RBI single, and the Broncbusters took the lead for good. Wiley added some insurance in the ninth, hammering the first pitch he saw off Jordan Mushalek and depositing it over the right-field wall.
Cameron Sistrunk earned his second victory of the season, allowing just one run on two hits in 1 1/3 innings. Starter Jared Newton gave up five runs on four hits in one inning.
CJ Allen took the loss for McCook, tallying five runs on five hits in 1 1/3.
