Garden City, KS-This one felt good for Head Coach, Chris Finnegan.
Sage McMinn crushed his second homer of the season, George Hettrick notched his second victory of the year, and Garden City hammered Seward County, 11-5 Saturday afternoon at Broncbuster Stadium. Garden City improved to 9-17-1 overall and 3-4 in conference.
The Broncbusters jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a Dylan Garcia RBI double in the bottom of the first. But the Saints answered in the top of the third. With two outs, Ranse Radtke deposited Hettrick's fastball over the wall in left to slice the lead in half.
Garden City came right back in their half when McMinn snuck a ball between first and second for a two-out RBI single that made it 3-1.
After Seward County responded with a four-run fourth, Garden City quickly tied things up a half inning later on Connor Camden's run-scoring double to left. The Broncbusters then put the game away with a five-run fifth followed by McMinn's no-doubter to right-center in the sixth.
Hettrick improved to 2-1 overall, allowing five runs on 10 hits in six innings. He surrendered two home runs. Ryan Muniz finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored, McMinn knocked in three, and (Dylan) Garcia was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Dylan Day took the loss for Seward County, allowing nine runs on 11 hits in 4 2/3.
