Lamar, CO-One big inning changed everything on Tuesday.
Will Gardner, Dylan Garcia, and Hector Garcia Jr. each homered, Garret Dykstra struck out five, and Garden City torched Lamar 16-6. The Broncbusters snapped a four-game losing streak and improved to 6-13-1 overall.
The Broncbusters plated eight runs in the second inning fueled by Garcia's two-run single and Connor Camden's RBI double. Garcia Jr. then blasted a 2-2 breaking ball over the wall in left in the third, Garcia went yard in the fourth, and Gardner tattooed a fastball over the right-field fence for a two-run shot to make it 13-5 in the fifth. Garden City scored twice more in the sixth and added another in the seventh when Konner Hatfield smoked a ball up the middle that brought Sage McMinn around.
Dykstra, who started the game, allowed just one run on two hits in three innings. Owen Mitchell pitched an inning of relief, yielding one run, and Cameron Sistrunk notched his first win of the season, tossing a scoreless fifth.
Sandler Needham took the loss for the Lopes, allowing eight runs on eight hits in two innings. He walked two and struck out two.
