Garden City, KS-Garden City took game one in fine fashion from Colby downing the Trojans 6-4. Colby jumped out to a 2-1 lead before Garden City responded in the bottom of the third behind Mason Browns RBI single scoring Aeneas Roberson. Roberson reached base on a walk.
The Trojans answered in the away inning of the fourth scoring two runs and taking a 4-1 lead. Garden City would respond scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth highlighted by Mason Browns two run single pulling the Busters within one. Kyle Lopez tied the game at 4-4 with his RBI single bringing in Mason Brown.
CJ Krainocks solo home run in the bottom of the fifth broke the tie and gave Garden City their first lead of the game 5-4. Garden City scored its final run in the bottom of the fifth with an Aeneas Roberson RBI single. Roberson's single scored Alex Nielson who reached base on a two out double.
In game two Garden City had an 8-2 lead at the end of seven. The Trojans plated 9 runs in the top of the eighth. Garden City scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth pulling within one at 11-10. The Trojans scored two runs in the top of the ninth. The Busters had a chance in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game but Alex Nielson's line drive to first prevented any chance of going into extra innings.
Alex Nielson led the way for Garden City going 3-5 including two home runs. Nielson scored 4 runs and added 4 RBI's. CJ Krainock went 1-3, scored 2 runs and tallied 1 RBI. Garden City and Colby are tied for third place sharing a 4-2 record in the Jayhawk West.
Game III is scheduled for 1:00PM tomorrow. Game IV follows at 3:30PM.
