Garden City, KS-A six run 8th inning clinched the win for Garden City as the Buster defeated Lamar 11-4. Garden City opened the season against Lamar on Friday and came away with an 8-4 victory as the Busters are now 2-0 on the year.
Garden City got busy in the fifth inning with back to back singles by Brooks Benson and Mason Brown. Kyle Lopez followed with a two RBI double that gave Garden City a 4-3 lead. Sean Kennedy would follow with an RBI single scoring Lopez and Garden City led 5-3 after five.
The Loper's jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and Garden City answered with a run in the bottom of the first scoring on a fielder's choice. The Busters answered again on an unearned run in the bottom of the second pulling within one.
The Loper's responded in the sixth scoring one run and trailed 5-4. The flood gates opened in the bottom of the eighth when Garden City scored six runs making the final score 11-4.
Garden City was led by Mason Brown. Brown went 2-5 from the dish scored 2 runs and tabbed two RBI's. Kyle Lopez went 1-4, scored 1 run and had two RBI's. Rafael Villela and Alex Eskridge combined for 4 RBI's with two each.
Garden City returns to play on Wednesday February, 5th when they host McCook Community College in a 1X9 venue. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM
