Bio

Allison (Alli) Griffin is entering her third year as the Head Athletic Trainer for Garden City Community College and is thrilled to be joining the Broncbuster family! Originally from Arizona, her experience with sports medicine began in 2011 at University of Arizona working as an intern under Emily Johnson with the women’s volleyball team. Though the internship lasted just shy of a year, Alli was able to implement a new documentation system that improved the daily treatment logging for the department. This was where her love of this career began as it combined two of her biggest passions in life – athletics and helping others.

After the internship, Alli started her education at Northern Arizona University. She completed her undergraduate work in 2016, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. During her time at NAU, she completed original research that was accepted for presentation at regional and national conventions as well as published in an undergraduate journal. She graduated top of her class in 2016 and moved to Florida to start her career at Webber International University.

As an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Webber International University, Alli worked with their football, bowling, and tennis teams. Though her focus was injury management, treatment, and rehabilitation, Alli’s work spanned across other areas including risk assessment, administration, and clinical mentorship. During her year there, she redesigned emergency action plans, assisted in rewriting policies and procedures, and implemented an inventory tracking system. Alli was a clinical preceptor to seven athletic training students from Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida Southern University. All of her students have since become certified athletic trainers or moved on to doctoral programs. She also helped the bowling teams win sectional championships and two national titles. Her time at Webber ended in 2017 after making the decision to move back to southwest and join the Arizona Western College Matadors.

Alli worked at Arizona Western College for three years. In that time, she worked as an athletic trainer for every team, insurance coordinator, adjunct faculty member, and clinical preceptor for Northern Arizona University. In her three years, she helped the athletic department make four national tournament appearances as well as win two district championships and six regional championships. She revamped the intern program and oversaw more than 20 students over her three years. Alli taught three sports medicine courses while at Western and wrote four new syllabi to allow for more hands-on opportunities for the students. She established a relationship between the local residency program and the sports medicine department. This resulted in Arizona Western becoming a clinical rotation site for the residents and streamlining the physicals process for the athletic department. In addition to her duties at the college, Alli was also elected Secretary of the Arizona Community College Athletic Trainer Association and held the position from 2018 to 2020. She played a large role in facilitating the conference’s response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and took the lead in creating the final return-to-play documents for the institutions. Towards the end of her tenure, she also assisted in redesigning a new sports medicine facility and implementing a new electronic medical record system to streamline communication between athletic trainers and coaches.
