
Broncbusters advance, ending a seven-year playoff drought
Garden City Community College Broncbusters won a hard-fought game against the Butler Community College Grizzlies in the first round of the Region 6 Tournament in El Dorado, Kansas. With this win the Broncbusters' pick up their first playoff win since 2017. The final score was 3-1, with set scores of 25-18, 25-15, 23-25, and 25-21 at the Power Plant in El Dorado, KS.
The Broncbusters were led by standout players on offense. Camila Pereira led the team with 11 kills, while Julia Brazil added 10 kills and 4 service aces. Carly Lang also made a big impact with 7 kills.
Serving played a key role in Garden City's success, as they scored 11 aces compared to Butler's nine. Katarina Miscevic contributed three aces. The Broncbusters showed strong defense, racking up 84 digs while Butler managed 63. Vitoria Stedile led the defense with 22 digs.
For Butler, Sarah Sullivan and Avery DeLong were the top scorers, each with 14 points. Anja Milosevic set up the Grizzlies' plays with 31 assists, along with 3 aces and 11 digs.
