Garden City, KS-Garden City made quick work of Clarendon.
Jelena Milovanovic finished with 11 kills, Miranda Jenkins had 12 digs, and the Broncbusters improved to 5-0 with a 25-15, 25-12, 25-14 victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon at Conestoga Arena.
"Our effort was tremendous again," Head Coach, Patrick Hiltz said afterwards. "This is all about the big picture stuff, and we have to make sure we are taking care of stuff on our side of the court."
Garden City controlled the entire match. The Broncbusters jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the opening set. Then, after Clarendon sliced the deficit to two, the Broncbusters answered with a 14-6 run, spearheaded by two powerful kills by Fiona Arnold.
"I am really pleased with the effort," Hiltz added. "There were some communication things that we needed to address."
The Broncbusters trailed for all of 15 seconds in the second set. Arnold dropped in an ace, Kate Perryman rose for a block at the net, and Garden City closed the stanza on a 9-2 run.
"Ultimately, we are trying to get better," Hiltz said. "If we are not giving max effort every single time, then we are not getting better."
Garden City put things away in the third. Leading 13-11, Milovanovic fired a crosscourt kill before Apolline Lepuissant provided the defining moment of the match. Ozge Yavuz dove and deflected a ball in the air that was headed towards the floor before Lepuissant's spike finished off the point. Moments later, Hannah Brandt punctuated things with a two-handed block, giving Garden City its first 5-0 start in 20 years
Tola Maczka had 11 assists for Garden City.
