
More school records fall at Jinx Invite
Winfield, KS-Another school record fell at the Jinx Invite over the weekend.
Women's Recap
Valentine Lagat won the 5000 meters, clocking in a new school record time of 19:06.52.
Diondra Wilborn didn't have the most ideal race in the 100-meter hurdles but came away with a first-place finish in the event with a time of 15.06.
Elsewhere, the Broncbusters had a handful of ladies who made their debut in the 1500-meter run. Shareen Cheruiyot was the top finisher, placing 4th in the event with a time of 5:08.56, just missing the national qualifying mark by a few seconds. Cielo Garcia clocked in at 5:53.60., Jania Don Juan (6:03.54), and Taylor (6:09.52) also placed in the top 30.
The women's 4x100-meter Relay team (Wilborn, Moreno, Jagels, Davis) placed 4th with a time of 51.98, Erica Davis had a solid double, placing 5th in both the 100 and 400-meter run, posting personal bests in both events (12.92 and 1:02.01), and Areli Moreno placed 7th in the high jump with a new PR of 1.45 meters. She came back later to take 7th in the long jump with a mark of 4.46 meters. Teammate Diamond Choate placed 9th with a season best jump of 4.30 meters.

Men's Recap
Debonaire Williams broke the school record in the discus, throwing a mark of 38.63 meters, which was good enough for 6th place in the event. Teammate Vaai Seumalo was close behind, placing 8th with a PR of 38.17 meters. The Kansas State football signee also had a big day in the shot put and hammer throw, earning personal best marks of 13.23 and 37.51 meters, respectively.
Jereun Wagner won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.64 while teammate Jaden Powell placed 8th with a personal best of 11.12.
Ray'Sean Thomas ran away with a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.56, good enough for a PR. Isaiah Armstrong placed 4th with a time of 50.16, and Marcus Dean made his debut, placing 8th with a time of 52.33.
Wagner came back and placed 2nd in the 200-meter dash, just missing the national qualifying standard with a time of 21.37.
Williams was 2nd in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking in a time of 16.24. Shaun Johnson placed 3rd with a time of 17.96, and Elisha Handsaker placed 5th with a time of 18.32.
The men's 4x100 meter Relay (Powell, Nava, Randell, Wagner) took 2nd with a time of 42.25, while Amari Hampton had a solid showing in the high jump, finishing 3rd with a personal best of 1.92 meters.
Powell led the Broncbusters in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in a season best 57.96 for 5th place. Teammate Shaun Johnson placed 6th with a time of 58.22.
In the half mile Amari Hampton was the top Broncbuster with a time of 2:01.19, placing 6th in the event. Maliek Roberson (2:02.37) was next in line in the 800m, Etienne James won his heat with a time of 2:07.58, and both Matthew Veloz (2:10.44) and Rosalio Ruiz (2:12.81) shaved seconds off their personal best times.
Cameron Collins recorded a PR in the Javelin, placing 5th with a mark of 44.80 meters, while Handsaker placed 9th with a personal best mark of 36.11 meters.
The Garden City Distance group also had a solid showing in the 5000-meter run. Froy Ruiz placed 5th with a new personal best of 17:09.31, Zaccerie Penka was the next one to finish, clocking in a personal best time of 17:40.96; taking 6th, Ricardo Mijares was 8th with a time of 17:51.91, and Jose Garcia placed 10th with a season best time of 18:10.72.
The Broncbusters had a total of seven personal best performances in the 1500-meter run. Ruiz was tops at 4:22.61, Garrett Klinger dropped 10 seconds off hi time to run a 4:27.55, Daniel Aguilar went sub 4:40 in his career, running an official time of 4:38.95, Veloz was right behind him with a time of 4:38.98, Ruiz improved by an impressive 15 seconds to run a 4:40.16, and Johnny Lozano (5:00.14) and Cyle Peterson (5:15.71) made improvements on their career best.
