Garden City Community College Broncbusters defeated No. 8 Butler Community College Grizzlies with a score of 2-0 to earn their first win in conference this season.
The Broncbusters took the lead in the 25th minute when defender Emma Casenave scored an unassisted goal. This early score set the tone for Garden City's strong performance throughout the game. Despite facing a lot of pressure from Butler, the Broncbuster's defense held strong. Goalkeeper Leydaly Enriquez making an impressive 14 saves to keep the Grizzlies off the board.
Butler's offense kept attacking, outshooting Garden City 19-5 overall. London Ingram and Ruby Kilden each taking four shots on goal. However, the Broncbuster's tough defense and Enriquez's great work near the net stopped every attempt.
The game remained close until the 80th minute when Garden City's Ariel Martinez scored hitting the top corner of the net over goalkeeper Millie Robshaw-Charlesworth from 20 yards out, assisted by midfielder Noelie Prat. This second goal helped secure the win for the Broncbusters and dealt a tough loss to the highly-ranked Grizzlies.
This win not only gave Garden City their first conference win but also handed Butler their second loss in conference play this season.
