Garden City suffers first loss of the season

Hutchinson, KS-Corey Bryant's team struggled to get anything going on Wednesday. 

Haley Rogers recorded a hat trick and delivered an assist, Kaitlyn Edwards added a pair of goals, and No. 20 Hutchinson topped Garden City, 7-2 at Gowans Stadium.  

The loss dropped the Broncbusters to 2-1.  

The Blue Dragons jumped all over Garden City in the first half, scoring five times. Rogers beat Leydaly Enriquez just four minutes into the match; then added another goal off a hockey assist from Katharina Marx and Beatrice Sales.  

In the 20^th minute, Hutchinson made it 3-0 when Katharina Marx scored from 25 yards out. Edwards tallied a goal 15 minutes later, and Rogers scored her third goal of the half late in the period to make it 5-0.  

After Edwards recorded her second score early in the final period, Jessica Newton got Garden City on the board with her nation-leading eighth goal of the season. She added another in the 68^th minute. 

The Blue Dragons outshot the Broncbusters, 33-17. Ciah-Lilly Rudkin, who came in the second half for Garden City, recorded six saves.
