Butler blasts Broncbusters in game one
El Dorado, KS-This one got away in a hurry.
Kyler Demel crushed two homers, Ellie Randall struck out six, and No. 16 Butler run ruled Garden City, 22-3 Wednesday afternoon.
The Broncbusters, which managed just four hits, fell to 22-17 overall and 14-11 in conference. Their only offense came via Maria Avendano Fori's three-run homer in the fifth.
Butler (31-6, 20-5) scored three runs in the second; then exploded for 11 in the third. Kylie Forney hit a three-run homer and Kim Yepez yanked a solo blast down the left-field line. Kory Schoenfeld added a two-run double, and the Grizzlies had a 12-0 lead.
Butler continued to pour it on in the fourth fueled by Demel's leadoff bomb. She added her second homer of the inning when she lifted a two-run shot to right-center that made it 22-0.
Yina Ballesta Vargas allowed 14 runs on 14 hits over three innings. However only six were earned as Garden City committed five errors.
