
Hendrix earns 800th career win as Broncbusters roll Seward
Liberal, KS-In 21 seasons as a Head Coach, Belinda Hendrix has experienced plenty of memorable moments.
Now, you can add another one to the mantle.
The three-time National Championship Coach recorded her 800th career win on Saturday as Garden City beat Seward County, 6-1.
Hendrix, who five times has posted 50 wins in a season, watched as the Broncbusters notched their 15thvictory, their most since 2023.
Yina Ballesta Vargas struck out seven over seven innings, and Chiara Olison went 3-for-4 with three RBI for Garden City, which improved to 7-6 in conference play.
Olison put the Broncbusters up for good in the first when she slapped a two-out, RBI single. She then added to the cause in the fourth, when she drove in Madison Kurene-Iwikau to make it 2-0.
An inning later, Daryelin Rivas Chavez ripped an RBI triple down the line, and Maria Avendano Fori singled home Chavez. Two batters later, Olison added her third RBI: a sacrifice fly to right that gave the visitors a 5-0 advantage.
After the Saints got a run back in the bottom half on Taryn Golden's solo homer, Fori looped an RBI single into shallow right in the seventh.
Saints' starter Kynleigh Kirby allowed five runs on nine hits in five innings.
