
Robinson homers twice, Broncbusters complete sweep of Dodge
Garden City, KS-What a weekend it was for Mereith Robinson.
The freshman smacked two more home runs, Kelsi Gaston also went deep, and Garden City beat Dodge City, 10-1 in five innings Saturday afternoon at Tangeman Sports Complex. With the sweep, the Broncbusters improved to 13-24 overall and 7-13 in conference play.
Tori Olson enjoyed one of her best performances of the season, giving up just one unearned run on five hits in a complete-game gem. She struck out four.
Everybody in the lineup except for Shiloh Johnson collected at least one hit with the top five batters combining to go 10-for-13 with nine runs scored and seven RBI.
And the Broncbusters put this game away early.
Gaston and Robinson clubbed back-to-back homers to fuel a five-run first inning. They added three more in the second before Robinson crushed an 0-1 fastball over the wall in center in the fourth to give the Broncbusters a 9-1 lead. Tori Olson followed later in the inning with an RBI single to cap the scoring.
Neilsen, who leads the team with 14 home runs on the season, finished 3-for-3 with a run scored for Garden City. Gaston had four RBI.
Delaney Utajara took the loss for Dodge City, allowing 10 runs on 13 hits in four innings.
