
Garden City clubs five homers; takes out Colby in game two

Garden City, KS-For the second straight game, Garden City climbed out of an early hole.
Arianna Griego, Ryanna Johnson, Lacey Kearsley, and Alanna Neilsen all went yard, and the Broncbusters completed a sweep of Colby with an 11-2 victory in Thursday's finale at Tangeman Sports Complex. Garden City improved to 21-27 overall and 14-14 in the Jayhawk.
Trailing 2-0, the Broncbusters erupted for seven runs in the third. Kearsley smacked an RBI double, and Griego and Johnson hit towering home runs, putting the Broncbusters up 7-2. An inning later, Griego homered again, this time a two-run job that pushed the lead to 9-2. Then in the fifth, Kearsley ended the game with a walk-off two-run blast to induce the run rule.
The Broncbusters outslugged Colby 11-2 with Kearsley and Alexis Maestretti combining to go 6-for-6 at the dish with four runs scored and three RBI. Kearsley also notched the win in the circle, allowing just two runs on two hits in five innings.
Colby starter Allison Westbrook took the loss, giving up five runs on five hits in two innings.
