Garden City, KS-Broncbuster guard, Brody Robinson was named the Jayhawk Conference Newcomer of the year and two of his teammates were selected to the all-conference squad on Friday.
Robinson, who started all 32 games after transferring from Tennessee-Chattanooga, led the nation in assists, averaging nearly 8.5 per game. 13 times he posted double-digit dimes including a school-record 17 vs. Bethany on Dec. 10. He averaged a team-best 20.4 points, which included a breathtaking 44-point outburst in a 98-76 victory over Pratt on Jan. 31, falling just one point shy of tying Dana Albright's program record-set back in 1972. Thomas Tut, who spent the 2022-23 season at Saint Peters, and Braxton Jones, who transferred from Hartford, were named to the All-Jayhawk second team. Tut averaged 14.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, finishing third in the conference on the glass. He posted 15-double-doubles, which included a mammoth 25-point, 17-rebound performance vs. Seward County in the opening round of the Region VI Tournament.
Jones shot nearly 35 percent from beyond the arc during the 23-24 campaign, nailing a school-record eight triples vs. Sterling on Nov. 9. It was one of nine times in which he hit five or more 3-pointers in game. The sophomore guard also posted a triple-double, finishing with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in a 109-72 victory over Dodge City on Jan. 17.
