Former Broncbuster, Isaiah Adams, drafted by the Arizona Cardinals
Garden City, KS-Former Broncbuster offensive lineman, Isaiah Adams became the first Garden City player drafted in four years when the Arizona Cardinals selected him 71st overall in the second round on Friday.
Adams, who started seven games for the Broncbusters during the 2021 spring season, became the highest drafted player since defensive back Mike Hughes was taken by the Minnesota Vikings in 2018. He's also the first Garden City player since 2020 to be selected (OL, Arlington Hambright, Chicago Bears, 2020).
During his one season in Garden City, Adams established himself as one of the nation's best linemen, paving the way for an offense that finished second in the conference with nearly 2,000 rushing yards while becoming the first Broncbuster offensive lineman since Bam Olaseni in 2018 to earn first-team All-America honors.
Adams, who was rated as a four-star Junior College prospect, received 17 Division-I offers following his sophomore campaign at Garden City. He eventually inked a national letter of intent with Illinois where he started 25 games over two seasons, earning All-Big Ten third-team honors in 2022 before being selected as team captain as a senior. In 2023, he was on the Outland Trophy watch list, the award given annually to the nation's best lineman. He was also an All-Big Ten honorable mention.
