Garden City completes sweep of Otero
La Junta, CO-Welcome back Sean Philpotts.
The freshman, who missed eight games because of injury, homered, Joshua Miller drove in three, and Garden City completed a two-game sweep of Otero with an 8-4 victory.
Philpotts extended his hit streak to eight games for the Broncbusters, which won their second straight game after dropping 11 in a row.
With a one-run lead entering the fifth, Miller added some much-needed insurance with a two-run double to right-center. It was all part of a four-run inning that put Garden City ahead, 8-3.
Philpotts though made his presence felt early in this one.
With the game tied 1-1, the freshman gave Garden City the lead for good with a two-run shot to left in the third. Miller added an RBI single in the fourth to make it 4-1.
Nathaniel Danielson picked up the win for the Broncbusters, allowing four runs on four hits over four innings. He struck out five.
