Broncbusters suffer road setback
Ranger, TX-For the first time this season, Sean Togher looked human on the hill.
The freshman allowed five runs, Jeremiah Torres homered and scored four times, and Ranger beat Garden City, 10-4 Sunday afternoon.
Togher was tagged for five runs on six hits and lasted just three innings for the Broncbusters, which fell to 6-3 overall. Sean Philpotts knocked in a pair of runs.
After working a one-two-three first, Togher was roughed up in the second. He surrendered a sacrifice fly to Jose Rodriguez and two-run single to Koen Piepkorn. In the third, he left a fastball over the heart of the plate that Torres devoured for a two-run homer. He was pulled after three.
Garden City managed to tie the game in the third, thanks to Philpotts' two-run triple and Karson Evans' RBI base hit. But they couldn't hold it in the bottom half. The Rangers then added three in the fourth and a pair of insurance runs in the sixth, one on a balk and the other on Michael Lozano's run-scoring single.
Abel Anzaldua picked up his second win of the year in relief, fanning six in four innings. He allowed one run on three hits.
