Broncbusters slip by Clarendon
Clarendon, TX-The Broncbusters traveled down to Clarendon, TX for a four-game series.
Geoff Marlow homered, Noah McCandless stuck out four, and Garden City beat Clarendon 9 - 7 on Sunday afternoon.
Connor Camden started the game off with a four-pitch walk from Juan Polo Rodriguez, he would later score in the top of the 1st.
Garden City held the Bulldogs off the board until Guillermo Gelpi gave up a single and walked a pair in the top of the 3rd. They picked up three runs before getting a sac fly to end the inning.
Gelpi didn't help himself in the top of the 4th giving up one more run. Caden Blair inherited a runner at 3rd, but quickly gave up a triple and allowed three runs in the 4th.
The Broncbusters would start to rally back in the 5th picking up three runs.
The Top of the 7th is when the Garden City's bats really came to life. Hector Garcia JR got on base first with a hit by pitch. The bulldogs committed an error and the Broncbusters would take advantage of that on a double by Camden. They wouldn't stop there. After a pitching change, Abel Reyes came to the mound with runners at 1st and 2nd, Will Gardner doubled on a 3-1 pitch, knocking in 2 RBI and tying the game. Marlow hit a two-run homer after seeing seven pitches, giving the Broncbusters a 9-7 lead that would hold the bulldogs off.
Gardner knocked in three runs for Garden City. Gelpi started the game and struck out five in 3 1/3.
Reyes took the loss allowing two run on two hits in 2/3 of an inning.
