Garden City, KS-A seventh inning rally fell just short despite Garden City platting 3 runs as the Beavers held on to win Game III 5-3. Cody Ebert earned the win for Pratt. Ebert went the distance giving up 8 hits, allowed one earned run and recorded 2 strikeouts.
Garden City hit into double plays in the first two innings. Glen Desboullians would follow in the top of the second with a two run crank giving the Beavers a 2-0 edge. Pratt answered again in the top of the 3rd when Julio Ibarra reached base on a double. Reece Garvie followed with an RBI single and Pratt led 3-0.
The Busters again in the bottom of the third hit into a double play to halt any scoring opportunities. A Reece Garvie RBI double in the fifth stretched Pratts lead to 4-0. Desboullians solo shot over the left field wall in the 6th gave Pratt a 5-0 edge and enough insurance runs to win Game III 5-3.
CJ Krainock went 3-3 and tallied 1 RBI to lead the Busters.
In Game IV Garden City downed the Beavers 17-3 to close regular season play. The Beavers close out the season at 10-22 in the Jayhawk West and 20-36 overall.
The Busters finished with 16 hits highlighted by three triples. In the bottom of the first Conner Reynolds recorded an RBI triple and Alex Nielson followed suit in the second inning. Nielson would record a three run triple in the third inning and Sean Kennedy closed out with a RBI triple in the fifth.
Brandon Pietsmeyer earned the win and is now 8-1 on the season.
Garden City (21-11, 41-14) will host Fort Scott on Saturday May, 7th at Williams Stadium in Garden City. The Busters are the #3 seed in the Jayhawk West. Colby wins the Jayhawk West with a Fort Scott finished 18-18 in the Jayhawk East and is 36-19 overall.
