Bio

Nathan (Nate) Smith has been an assistant Athletic Trainer at Garden City Community College where he covers Broncbuster Athletes since July of 2019.

Nate is originally from Utah. He first learned about Athletic Training when he was attending school at Weber State University.  While there, he worked with a lot of the sports on campus and with a number of High School’s in the surrounding area.  Nate graduated from Weber State University at the end of 2009 with his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training.  He passed his Board of Certification exam the following year.

Nate’s first Athletic Training job was covering youth football in the Salt Lake City surrounding area for a year.  The following year he moved his family to Sandpoint, Idaho where he worked as an outreach Athletic Trainer to Sandpoint High School sports.  He also would help cover some of the middle school games there. After being in Sandpoint, ID for a year he packed up and moved to the Chicagoland area.  There he worked at Accelerated Physical Therapy as an outreach ATC at Wilbur Wright College, which is one of the City Colleges of Chicago, where he covered Junior College basketball. After Accelerated Physical Therapy was acquired by Athletico Physical Therapy, Nate moved to College of DuPage where he covered all 15 collegiate sports for 4 years.

Nate was also able to cover several special events while working with Accelerated Physical Therapy and Athletico Physical Therapy. Some of these events were national championships in basketball and volleyball tournaments.  He also worked a Nike Tournament of Champions one summer.  The highlight of working with Athletico Physical Therapy was working the US Soccer Development Academy Showcase outside of Indianapolis, IN.

When Nate is not taking care of the Broncbusters, he is home with his wife, Nancy, and 3 kids.  You may also see him sitting in stands cheering on his kids at their various school and sport activities with his wife.  He and Nancy got married in 2005.  You can also frequently see his wife and kids at Broncbuster games cheering on the Busters.  Nate loves being part of the Buster community.
