Garden City, KS-Katarina Vojvodic just wanted a chance to play.
Following a year where she saw limited time at Casper College, the sophomore transferred to Garden City. And boy did she make her presence felt in 2019.
On Monday, Vojvodic was named to the All-Jayhawk second team.
"I think it's great for her," Head Coach Patrick Hiltz said. "She deserved it. She willingly excepted a new role about halfway though the season and ran with it. It not only allowed her to have success, but the team as well. The other coaches saw that Kat was a big part of our success. When she was on, we were good; when she was off; we struggled a bit."
Vojvodic was a powerful force on the Broncbuster front line. She finished 13th in the conference and 40th in the nation with 362 kills. She recorded a season-high 19 spikes in a 3-1 win over Bethany on Sept. 17 and in a five-set victory over Pratt on Sept. 25. The sophomore tallied double-digit kills in 21 matches including a stretch of seven straight from Oct. 2-Oct. 19
