Barton County drops Garden City in three
Great Bend, KS-2016 continues to be a learning experience for Jacquelynne Matula's Garden City Broncbusters.
Wednesday was just another one of those nights.
Hannah Beam had 17 kills, Lydia Konrade recorded 16 digs, and Barton County swept the Broncbusters 25-12, 25-14 and 25-21 at Fleske Court.
"We started out okay in the first set," Matula explained. "But then we started hitting their scoreboard, which is really low. I think that mentally burned us, and I don't think we ever got over that."
Megan Besecker, who's led the Broncbusters in kills in all but one match this season, had seven to spearhead Garden City's attack. Ana Pena added six kills while Bailey Martinez recorded 23 digs.
"I think we could have played much better, and we should have played better," Matula said. "I think their homecourt advantage was tremendous."
Six Cougar players had double-digit kill games including Olivia Naccarato's 16.
Barton County is now 17-5 overall and 6-3 in the Jayhawk. Garden City falls to 4-17 and 1-7 in conference play.
