Garden City, KS-For only the second time this season, the Broncbusters suffered a conference setback.
Saki Matsumoto scored twice as Butler shutout Garden City, 3-0 Wednesday night at Broncbuster Stadium. The loss dropped Garden City to 5-2-2 overall and 1-2-2 in conference.
This marked only the second time this season that Corey Bryant's team failed to score. In fact, the Broncbusters entered the night ranked second in the Region in goals scored. But despite five shots on goal, Garden City failed to break through.
Playing against a shorthanded opponent (Samantha Medina and Abbeigh Bland missed their second straight match due to suspension), the Grizzlies took advantage early. Matsumoto scored five minutes into the match; then added her second goal in the 38th minute to put the Grizzlies up 2-0 at the break. Rose Loyle made it 3-0 with just over 20 minutes to play in the match.
Butler outshot the Broncbusters, 11-10. Ava Wilson had five saves.
