Three Broncbusters named to the All-Conference team
Garden City, KS-Three Broncbuster women's players earned some postseason recognition.
Guard Talia Roberts, who led the Jayhawk in scoring, was named to the second team, while guard Alyssa Boyce and forward Daz'Monique Johnson earned honorable mentions.
Roberts may have been the biggest slight of all. Definitely worthy of a first-team selection, the sophomore poured in 521 points, was fifth in the conference in free throw percentage and 30th in the nation. She totaled 20 or more points 14 times including a season-high 30 points vs. Colby on Feb. 20. She reached double figures in all but five contests, despite missing two games in January with an ankle sprain.
One of her best games came early in the conference season vs. Allen, where Roberts scored 29 points, dished out six assists and grabbed five rebounds. She finished the year 15th in the Jayhawk in assists.
Johnson was a constant force on the glass in 2018-2019. The sophomore recorded a team-best 10 double-doubles, including an 18-point, 17-rebound showing vs. Northwest Tech on Jan. 19. She had 15 double-figure rebounding games during the year, finishing sixth in the conference in that department. Johnson pulled down 104 offensive boards, good for seventh in the Jayhawk, and was seventh in the league in field goal percentage (49.1). She reached double figures in scoring 15 times including a season-high 24 points in a 110-75 victory over Neosho on Jan. 9.
Boyce started 25 of 31 games for the Broncbusters in 2018-2019. She averaged 10.5 points on 40-percent shooting, scoring in double figures 18 times including a season-best 21 points on 8-of-14 from the field vs. Neosho. She also had five assists in a game four different times (South Plains, Allen, Neosho and Colby) and finished seventh in the league in steals with 68. She had seven vs. Bethany in the Broncbusters first game of the season and had four or more six different times.
