Butler steals early momentum; takes game one
By Mike Pilosof
El Dorado, KS-The Broncbusters grabbed some early momentum on Friday afternoon. But it was quickly doused by Butler, who used a big first inning to pull away.
Brianna Robinson homered twice, Taliya Talley, Olivia DePew and Asia Henry also left the yard, and the Grizzlies run ruled Garden City 15-2 in five innings.
The Broncbusters took the early lead in the top of the first on Kaylee Rogers RBI fielder's choice.
It was all Butler from there.
Robinson and Talley hit back-to-back jacks in the home half, Sara Mitchell, Jamie Barta, and Meghan Gutierrez slapped three consecutive RBI base hits, and Butler was up 6-1. In the second, Henry cranked a two-run homer over the fence in left to give the Grizzlies a seven-run cushion.
Garden City got one back in the third on Brittany Dowell's RBI fielder's choice, but Butler put together a seven-run bottom half, powered by Robinson's second homer of the day, and DePew's two-run bomb to left.
Broncbuster starter Madison Biller was tagged for 15 runs on 14 hits in four innings. She allowed five home runs.
Robinson drove in four for Butler, and Megan Johnson got the win in the circle.
