Sanborn added a two-run single before Monica Courville pushed a ball past Vivian Lopez at second for a run-scoring base hit that made it 8-3.
Garden City looked to start their own rally in the ninth when Denney singled with one out and Kaylee Rogers reached on an error. Madison Biller followed with a sac fly that cut the deficit to 8-4. But with two outs, Gaby Hernandez grounded out to third.
