Dodge City wins two over Garden City

Dodge City, KS-The Garden City softball team lost a pair of games on the road on Wednesday, falling to Dodge City 8-0 and 16-4.
In the opener, the Conquistadors got their offense going early scoring two runs off of Broncbusters' starter Samantha Akers on back-to-back bases-loaded walks in the first. An error and an RBI single by Samantha Montano pushed the edge to 4-0 after two.
Montano struck again in the fourth, reaching on a bunt single that scored Brittney Gonzalez from third. Jordyn McDaniel followed with a run-scoring single, and it was 6-0 Dodge City. They added two more in the fifth to complete the run rule.
McDaniel picked up the win in the circle, allowing just three hits in five innings. Montano knocked in two, and Caley Best collected two hits.
Akers took the loss, surrendering eight runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings. She walked five and struck out two.
Things started well for Garden City in game two.
Angel Jimenez stroked a two-out, two-run single in the top of the first to give the Broncbusters a 2-0 lead.
It was all Dodge City from there.
The Conquistadors answered with four in the bottom half; then took advantage of back-to-back Garden City errors in the second. Alex Stecklein hit an RBI single, Leslie Ortiz followed with an RBI groundout, and Brooklyn Botts roped a run-scoringn double to make it 9-2. Gonzalez had an RBI base hit, and Montano blasted a three-run homer off of Ariel Denney, fueling a 10-run frame and putting Dodge City up 14-2. McDaniel added a two-run double in the fourth.
Denney took the loss, allowing 16 runs on 13 hits in four innings.
McDaniel got her second win of the day, scattering three hits. Montano drove in four more runs.
