Liburd spectacular at KU Relays
Lawrence, KS-The Broncbuster men showed up in a big way at the 90th annual KU Relays.
James Liburd won the 400 meters, improving his time to 47.14. He is now ranked seventh in the nation.
Meantime, the men's 4x100 relay team finished third while Johnathan Challenger sprinted to a fourth-place finish in the 100 meters with a time of 10.41 and a fifth-place finish in the 200 at 21.26. Denim Rogers was ninth in the 110-meter hurdle finals with a finishing time of 15.30. He also placed 13th in the long jump.
The other half of Garden City's squad competed at the Tabor College Invite with Quincy Watts taking second in the long jump and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. Oscar Guzman placed 13th in the 800 meters; Eduardo Ortiz was 21st in the 800 meters; Chris Paul 24th in the 800 meters; Edgar Avaols 25th in the 800 meters and Lucas Santos took fourth in the 400 meters.
Next up: Garden City will be back in action on Thursday May 4 at the Region VI track meet. Outdoor nationals are set for May 18-20.
