20th-ranked Broncbuster men making nose at Pitt State
Pittsburg, KS-The Garden City men's track team has quickly made a name for themselves in 2017.
The Broncbusters produced another outstanding finish at the 2017 Gorilla Classic at Pittsburg State University.
Quincy Watts broke the school and meet record for his time in the 60-meter hurdles, running a blistering 8.05 to finish first, beating out Blake Alexander from William Jewell. He also finished 11th in the long jump finals; his best jump was 6.67 meters.
"We have athletes that can definitely compete at nationals," Associate Coach Doug Marshall said. "These guys have proven themselves every week."
James Liburd was sensational again, qualifying for nationals after taking first in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:12.54. He finished third in the 400-meter dash, just a second behind Coffeyville's Jermaine Holt, who won the event.
Jonathan Challenger placed ninth in the 60-meter dash, notching a time of 6.95 seconds. He was also ninth in the 200-meter dash at 21.82 seconds
