Garden City, KS-The Broncbusters had so many chances in this one. Yet Head Coach, Corey Bryant will take the end result.
Garden City avoided a frustrating loss thanks to two second-half goals to draw even with Seward County, 2-2 on Wednesday night at Broncbuster Stadium. Garden City is now 4-1-2 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.
Two early mistakes cost Garden City in the first half. Adrian Castillo, who thought he had made a clean tackle in the box, was given a yellow card leading to a penalty kick. Goalie Charlie Prtenjaca then guessed wrong as Leondro Suarez easily rolled the ball into the net for a 1-0 advantage 20 minutes into the contest.
Then, in the final minute of the opening period, Jean Poul Cruvelier made what appeared to be a tremendous play on the ball. But the official gave him a yellow card, which resulted in Seward County's second goal off a penalty kick by Zain Beg.
The Broncbusters, who dominated possession for most of the night, finally got on the board early in the second half when Cristobal Sanchez led Haru Toshikuni, who beat keeper Bruno Mestres in a one-on-one play for a goal.
In the 72nd minute, Garden City struck again. This time it was Noel Williamson squeezing a pass to Jorge De Le Vibora, who fired a shot through traffic and into the right corner of the net.
But Bryant's team couldn't convert down the stretch. De Le Vibora missed a chance in the 87th minute, and Manuel Shelton misfired on two pointblank headers in the final 90 seconds.
Prtenjaca recorded six saves for Garden City, and there were a combined eight yellow cards. Mestres had 11 saves for the Saints.
