Broncbusters loaded for 2017 campaign
Following back-to-back national tournament appearances, the Broncbuster golf program is riding a serious wave of momentum.
Garden City has been ranked in the top 20 each of the past two seasons, finishing 18th and 16th in their previous two trips to nationals.
The Broncbusters return two golfers: Jordan Parsons from South Africa and Houston-native Bryce Wharton will spearhead the Garden City attack in 2017.
"I am very pleased with the strong focus that these two have come in with this year," Head Coach John Green said.
Garden City also welcomes in newcomers like Euan McBride from Scottland and England's George Avgousti. In the spring, Green's squad will get a boost from Norman, Oklahoma product Asher Owens, while Buhler's Grant Burr is a late addition, who should add some firepower to an already loaded roster. That coupled with the talents of Charles Black, a high school star from Tallahassee, FL, the sky is the limit in 2017.
"This group of golfers, in addition to the recruits we are working on to arrive in January, will set set the squad to make a move towards the top 10 this spring," Green added.
Garden City opens the season in the mountains of Ruidoso to compete among several top 20 programs at the Links of Sierra Blanca Sept. 23-25. Parsons, McBride, George Avgousti, Bryce Wharton and Burr will be competing in New Mexico.
