Garden City, KS-The rest of the conference took notice following Garden City's 61-0 rout of Ellsworth.
On Tuesday, running back Ramon Jefferson and safety Kenny White were named the Jayhawk Conference Players of the week.
Jefferson, who started in place of the injured Jadon Hayes, was scintillating. He rushed for 168 yards on just nine carries, with three of those going for touchdowns. That performance also included a jaw-dropping 75-yard scoring run that put the Broncbusters on top 54-0.
"We were missing some key guys on the offensive line, which makes what our running backs did even more impressive," Minnick said.
Jefferson averaged 18.7 yards per carry and was one of two Garden City backs to surpass the century mark on the ground.
Meantime White was a defensive menace. Charged with shutting down the Panthers' option attack, the sophomore stuffed the line of scrimmage while single-handedly flipping the game. He recorded nine tackles (4.5 for loss), forced a fumble and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown.
"Kenny was special," Minnick said. "There's no doubt about that. He was all over the place."
White has now recorded 21 tackles in his last two games with a defensive touchdown and three pass breakups to boot. Not bad for the former high-school running back.
The No. 8 Broncbusters are back home on Saturday, hosting Independence. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
