National Champs visit the Governor
Topeka, KS-On Dec. 3, Garden City became the first school from Kansas to win a National Championship in eight years. Nearly two months later, they were rewarded with a trip to the Governor's mansion.
"Congratulations to the Broncbusters for winning the NJCAA National Championship," Governor Sam Brownback said in a tweet. "Kansas is proud of Buster football."
The Broncbusters presented Gov. Brownback with a signed, No. 1 jersey.
Head Coach Jeff Sims, who was recently honored as the National Junior College Coach of the year as well as the American Community College Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year, was on hand with school president Dr. Herbert Swender, Athletic Director John Green, members of the team and cheer squad.
