Garden City, KS-Things spiraled out of control quickly.
Jordan Tucker homered and drove in three runs, Trenton Roehler struck out seven, and Hutchinson pounded Garden City, 17-1 in five innings on Saturday afternoon at Williams Stadium.
Taylor Dooley, who had a nightmarish start, gave up nine runs on nine hits in four innings. His offense didn't provide much lift as they were held to just four hits.
The Blue Dragons hung seven runs in the top of the first which included Kael Babin's bases-clearing double. In the third, Cooper Wesslund scored on a passed ball, and Blake Bradford smoked a hard single to left to make it 9-0.
After the Broncbusters got on the board in the fourth, Hutchinson put the game away with an eight-run sixth. With two on and nobody out, Shane Puckett hung a breaking ball that Tucker smashed over the wall in right for a three-run homer. Colin Cymbalista added a two-run double, and Jarrett Herrmann singled home a pair to give Hutchinson a 17-1 lead.
Meantime Roehler cruised through the Garden City lineup. He retired 10 of the first 11 batters that he faced yielding only one run that came on a double steal in the fourth.
