The big inning costly as Garden City falls to Otero at home
Garden City, KS-Two big innings cost Garden City dearly.
Jovonnie Bautista and Erick Ubri homered, Otero scored 12 runs combined in the second and fourth innings, and the Rattlers beat Garden City, 14-3 on Tuesday afternoon at Williams Stadium. The loss dropped the Broncbusters to 7-32 overall.
Bautista finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI for Otero, which won its third straight game to improve to 15-27 overall. Ubri was 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Broncbuster starter Kurisu Ueta gave up six runs on three hits while walking six in just two innings. He served up two home runs.
Otero blew the game open in the second. Tommy Fiocchi walked with the bases loaded, and Ubri hit a grand slam to make it 6-1.
In the fourth, the first three men reached before Easton McKenzie was hit by a pitch with the sacks full. Casey Pyychak and Yosuke Fujie drew a pair of bases-loaded free passes, and Bautista and Fiocchi laced RBI singles to give Otero a 13-2 advantage.
Meantime, the Broncbuster bullpen was shaky again, allowing seven earned runs over five innings. Gunnar Nartker was tagged with six, and Daylin LeBlanc surrendered two runs (one earned) in 1 1/3.
Dawson Stutz was the lone Garden City player to record a multi-hit game finishing 2-for-3 with two RBI.
