Garden City, KS-It took 10 innings for Garden City to improve to 3-0 on the season downing McCook Community College 8-7. The Indians jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning highlighted by a two run triple by Keanu Van Kuren.
Garden City would answer in the third inning scoring five runs. Jake Tyrakoski led off with a single followed by an Aeneas Roberson double. Brook Benson was walked loading the bases setting up a Mason Brown's 3 RBI double. Kyle Lopez followed with an RBI single and Conner Reynolds ended the scoring with a RBI double giving the Busters a 5-4 lead.
The Indians James Babic answered in the sixth as he blasted a three run homer giving McCook its final score of the day as they went ahead 7-5. Garden City answered in the bottom half when Mason Brown reached based on a fielder's choice allowing Alex Eskridge to score making the score 7-6.
Garden City tied the game in the bottom of the seventh. With bases loaded Alex Eskridge was hit by pitch scoring Sean Kennedy. With one out Kennedy reached base on a walk. Garden City loaded the bases in the bottom of the tenth inning as McCook pitching fatigued. Billy Clark reached base on an error by shortstop CJ Neuman giving Garden City the 8-7 win.
Garden City returns to action Saturday when they host Western Nebraska in a Saturday-Sunday doubleheader. First pitch is at 1:00pm.
