Broncbuster cross country competes at Region VI Championships
Hutchinson, KS-The Broncbuster cross country teams competed in the Region VI Championships on Friday.
Women's Recap:
-Valentine Lagat took lead for the Lady Busters; placing 8th with a time of 19:27.3.
-Coming back from injury, Shareen Cheruiyot ran strong and placed 11th with a time of 19:45.89.
-Both Valentine and Shareen's performance were good enough for All-Region Honors.
-Freshman Sara Chapa stayed consistent, placing 39th place. Her time of 21:08.1 was the 2nd best time of her career.
-Taylor Thorp ran a career best time of 21:38.36; good enough for 48th place.
-Jania Don Juan placed 51st with a season best time of 22:04.83.
-Andrea Serrano continued to make big improvements as she set a new personal best of 22:22.9, almost a minute faster than her previous best. Serrano placed 55th overall.
-Rebecca Potts rounded out the team placing with a strong performance; running a time of 24:24.77 (second best performance of her career) for 67th place.
-Lady Busters placed 5th in the Region with a team score of 141. The Lady Busters placed 4th in the KJCCC West with a score of 124.
Men's Recap:
-Kelvin Cheruiyot led the Broncbusters with a 16th place finish, running a time of 25:40.1.
-Jose "Froy" Ruiz ran a time of 28:13.58, placing 52nd.
-Daniel Aguilar had a huge performance, running a new personal best time of 28:55.50, good enough for 62nd.
-Zaccerie Penka placed 76th with a time of 29:45.05.
-Matthew Veloz fought through an injury to place 80th with a time of 29:50.06.
-Rosalio Ruiz set a new personal best, running a time of 30:13.1; good enough for 86th place.
-Daegan VanPelt was close behind, clocking in a new personal best time of 30:40.5; good enough for 89th place.
-Ricardo Mijares placed 98th with a time of 31:33.75.
-Edgar Ruiz ran a season best time of 32:23.04, which was good enough for 101st place.
-Bronbusters finished 11th in the region with a team score of 247 points. They finished 6th in the KJCCC West with a score of 128.
